Shri Santosh Kumar Takhele is a distinguished leader in India's power sector, with an impressive career spanning over 35 years. Born in Auraiyya, Uttar Pradesh, he pursued his passion for engineering, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Uttarakhand, in 1988. This academic foundation laid the groundwork for a remarkable journey in one of India's leading energy companies, NTPC Limited, a Maharatna company recognized for its significant contributions to India's energy landscape.

At just 23, Shri Takhele began his professional journey with NTPC Limited as an Executive Engineer Trainee. His early years saw him stationed at the NTPC Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station, the first power station of NTPC, with a capacity of 2000 MW. Here, he worked in the Contracts & Material department, showcasing his efficiency in managing critical procurement processes. His career trajectory continued to rise as he transitioned to the Turbine Maintenance department in 1997, where he played a key role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of turbine and its Auxiliaries.

In 2014, Shri Takhele was transferred to NTPC Western Regional Headquarters-01, where he oversaw Operations Services. His strategic oversight ensured the smooth functioning of operations across multiple units, highlighting his capability in managing complex projects. His expertise was further recognized when he was entrusted with the role of head of the fuel management group at NTPC's Kanti and Farakka projects from 2018 to 2020. In this capacity, he was instrumental in optimizing fuel procurement and utilization, crucial for maintaining the economic viability of power generation.

In September 2020, Shri Takhele's career reached a new pinnacle when he joined NTPC's Corporate Center. He joined NTPC corporate Centre as GM(Environment). In due course, Safety, Ash Utilization, Sustainability got added to his profile, later he took over as CGM (SSEA). He led initiatives that underscored NTPC's commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible energy production. His leadership in this role from 2020 to 2024 not only focused on enhancing safety protocols and optimizing ash utilization but also on advancing NTPC's sustainability goals, reflecting a deep commitment to environmental stewardship.

Throughout his illustrious career, Shri Takhele has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the power sector. His contributions have significantly shaped the operational and environmental strategies of NTPC Limited, making him a respected figure in India's energy industry.

Shri S K Takhele took charge of RGPPL, India’s largest Combined Cycle Gas Power Project (Capacity: 1967 MW) from 01.03.2024 as Chief Executive Officer in RGPPL. Under his able leadership RGPPL is looking at reaching new heights.
