
Shri Samanta, presently working as Managing Director on the board of Ratnagiri Gas & Power Private Ltd. has joined NTPC Ltd. (A Maharatna company accredited by GOI as an Energy Major) in 1983.
He started off his journey as a commissioning/Maintenance engineer in NTPC Farakka (2100 MW) and NTPC Korba (2600MW) power plants and later switched over as Operation & Maintenance Head of NTPC Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Station (2340 MW). In 2011, he joined as Head of Project Execution in NTPC Kudgi (3×800 MW) Greenfield Power Project (1st 800MW plant of NTPC) and later on headed operating stations like NTPC Simhadri (2000MW), NTPC Sipat (2980 MW), Meja, MUNPL (2×660 MW) and presently RGPPL (India’s largest Combined Cycle Gas Power project of 1967MW).
Shri Samanta, born in West Bengal, completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology IIEST, Shibpur (formerly known as Bengal engineering college which is the 2nd oldest engineering college in the country started in 1856). Shri Asim Kumar Samanta has over 37 years of comprehensive knowledge in the power sector has held several key leadership positions across multiple businesses.
